In case you missed this, NPR recently had an interesting piece about a new book about E.B. White and how Charlotte's Web came to be.
Here is the link to the story if you are interested in hearing or reading more: http://www.npr.org/2011/07/05/137452030/how-e-b-white-spun-charlottes-web?ps=cpr
Over the holiday weekend, my daughter and I each read a whole book in one day--easy for my daughter, since she is on summer break, but a rare treat for me. While my daughter was completely glued to Franny Billingsley's new YA novel, Chime (which was just awarded a Boston Globe - Horn Book honor), I was wrapped up in the mystery of The Visconti House, by Elsbeth Edgar, which I picked up spur-of-the-moment when I saw it displayed on an end cap in the children's section at my local library.
Now I'm spoiled, and I just want to sit around and read all day ALL the time! And I just got my hands on an advanced copy of Crossed (the sequel to Matched), by Ally Condie, so I may have to have another reading day soon. Oh, if only there were more hours in a day!
